Anybody plant them? I'm thinking about trying beets instead of turnips this year. How have they worked for you as opposed to turnips or rape?

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Sugar beets
If you have the soil and weed control to grow sugar beets, do it. They are much better than Brassica's.

Soil high in nitrogen? I think I read that somewhere. What do you use for weed control? When do you plant?

Re: Sugar beets
I don't have time right now to write about planting sugar beets, but suffice it to say sugar beets are picky and weak starters. I would not recommend them for a novice food plotter. If you want to learn more about growing them you can read more hear.
