Sodium bentonite works, no doubt about it. Not sure how much it is from sturgis materials but I get it for about $12/50 lb bag.

Sorry to see your holes didn't work out so well Nut, I've done the same thing and if you don't have the right soil they just don't hold without bentonite.

hey nut, it doesnt take much water and the deer are there to drink it. they do hold better after time i believe. i guess i would classify mine as a waterhole more than a pond. i didnt put a runoff in it like yours, i guess it wasnt big enough. when yours fills it will be really nice. but that water will keep em coming for now for sure.

Thanks for the info on the sodium bentonite guys, if they they dry up completely again I'll have to try find some and do something like that. There is everything on my property for deer and water will be the icing on the cake
