Walleye Chop

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Mon Jun 24, 2013 12:57 pm

This morning was a solo trip to Saginaw Bay- last night I tied up a few spinners and was good to go...

Once I was on the water, I was disappointed to see the wave height forecast was WAY off. I found myself in some 4 and 5 footers, which is a lot to handle in my little boat. Controlling the boat, setting lines and netting fish can be quite a challenge when fishing by yourself in these conditions. Despite the obstacles, I was fortunate and boated approximately 20 walleyes. Here's my limit of 5 I kept for the table:

I didn't get any real beast walleyes today, but here's a 28" from last week:

Hopefully my next trip the bay will be much smoother. 8-)

Nice fish Scott! I would have been sea sick in those waves. :puke-front:
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Nice batch of fish.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

The pink and blue Spider blade I call "bubble gum" and have taken many walleyes with it. Last year the blades with pink on them were hot.

I'm jealous... :) I've never made it over to Saginaw Bay, and have only been to Erie once. I just don't have the time to get to the East side much, but man those walleye look tasty! I have to find a spot on the west side with eyes like that! haha

Walleye really is excellent fish... in fact I just had some for dinner. It would definitely be worth finding a honey hole or two on the west side.
