Re: Dan's Set-ups
The things Carol finds in my camera Thanks Carol!
This was my set up in a small marshy public spot two days ago. I set up West of a cattail bowl with some dead rotting tammerack trees and a pocket of redbrush / dogwood in the middle that was obvious buck bedding.
I set up in a dead tamerack 2 sticks high ( 10 feet ) with a E-NE wind 50 yards from the bedding area.
There was tons of deer sign... No deer were seen. 1st time ever scouted or hunted that spot. Picked it useing google earth. I was pretty surprised nothing came out.
The bedding area in the cattail bowl directly East of me:

Re: Dan's Set-ups
Found a rub from a 2 1/2 year old buck on my way to yesterdays spot:
Went out on a finger of hardwoods in a large public area that you have to cross muck / swamp to get to... The rub was on a trail going from bedding to a dropping oak. I have pre scouted this spot, and hunt here once or twice every year although I pick different trees based on exact wind and current trails. I was 60 / 70 yards from the buck beds.
Beds were to the North, wind was East but kept switching West when it would calm. Swirled a lot. I hunted high.
5 sticks...
Looking down from the stand:
Looking North. Buck bedding is where those trees end and the cattails start, right on the transition in the cattails about 10 yards.
No deer sighted on stand, but saw three that came out of the bedding going in a different direction. Appeared to be antlerless.
