If I put a camera in an area where deer expect to encounter a human (night time food source etc.) I don't get a bad reaction no matter what camera I'm using. But if I put them in more secluded areas, closer to bedding, I get spooked pictures. Doesn't seem to matter if it's a flash or IR that glows. I did try putting on the tape strips you mentioned. That and putting the cam high pointing down seems to help. I only take pictures of bedding area activity in the spring time now. For what that's worth...
