3/27/2011 Scouting adventures

Unread postby Indianahunter » Mon Mar 28, 2011 9:58 am

I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT!
I am pumped. I for sure found an awesome buck bed. No antlers....and I forgot the stinking camera again. None-the-less I have a confirmed buck bed that has been used recently. I am not certain of how often or when but trail cam will fill me in on that one after the Turkey hunters get out of the woods. I know exactly how he is getting in and out, exactly what he can see. The cool thing is that I have figured out an awesome way to get in and out undetected. I am going to get in there over this next week and get everything prepared for that spot this fall. It's on like Donkey Kong!

Make sure you dont shut him down with too much human scent in the area. I think Dan stays away from the area, just focuses on local crop fields with his scouting to determine if a nice buck is in the area, then knows its likely bedding in one of several spots he has found in that area. This assumes he spots the deer during day light, or at least just after dark. Deer that show up late at night could have traveled a mile or more to get there, not the deer using the bed you recently found.
Good luck!

Ken

Thanks Ken.....yeah I am with ya, I am not putting the camera anywhere near the bed, but on one of the exit trails I found and I can access it without leaving scent at all, so I am pumped about that for sure.
