Short trip to Hill Country

Unread postby Wiscokid » Fri Oct 15, 2021 2:45 am

I am taking a trip at the end of the month to a different part of the state where it is the public piece is all hills/ ridges. When scouting a piece where the access is at the top a ridge, and most of the access trails run along the top of the ridges, has anyone noticed deer bedding at lower elevation down the ridges or still in the top 1/3?

I hunt the same kind of terrain and I have seen both bedding locations... I do find a lot of beds off the path when you break through the thick transition. Look for those benches and spines off the top trail at that top 3rd. Typically I have seen deer movement in the evenings heading down the mtn. In the mornings they will move up to that transition edge.
