Spysar does make a point, (although alittle harsh  ) Black squirrel is allowing members to come along on "his" property which I think is very generous. (not too many private landowners would do this). And Dan does this to make alittle money, so those that are in the area and want to learn some tactics should make every effort to join them. ($50 is more than reasonable to gain some knowledge that could last you a lifetime). For the out of staters I can see why you cannot make it and it will be nice to have some highlights for everyone to review. 8-)

I'll be there. I'm driving from Wis rapids so if anyone wants to tag along let me know. I will have my laptop with aerials of his areas. I have to leave at 3:00 PM.

Spysar wrote:For those that don't know, Dan's scouting other peoples property is a paid service. Black Squirrel was nice enough to invite everyone, and now everyone has every excuse under the sun why they can't go. Those same people want a video. Why? So you can sit on your couch and pretend your a "Beast" hunter? This is a hands on chance. If I was Black S and Dan, I wouldn't have a video made so everyone can freeload. Dan gives enough of his tactics away for free....

Sorry if I sound harsh, but that's how I see it....

I can't take it anymore! You are officially on my foes list!

Here is an update for those planning on attending. We got close to 3" of rain in the last couple of days, so plan on bringing some good knee high boots. The main piece should be ok, but two of the other spots might have a good amount of water. We will probably have to do a lot of walking also, just because we won't be able to drive down the lanes. If anyone would like gps cordinates to print off maps, just pm, and I'll get those to you. Time dependant, on how long it takes to walk the spots we will plan on breaking for lunch, at a local pizza place. Here we will have a question and answer session about the morining. We can also go over any maps that you want to bring. After lunch depending on how much time, if any, we have left we could hit a public piece that is nearby. I have 3 situations, that I feel are a pretty good representaion of what most of us have to deal with, when hunting farmland. 1. This is about a 30 acre parcel with a good mix of hard woods, and conifers. It also has a high pressure neighbor, who shoots any legal buck. He baits, and drives his 4 wheeler around. I believe he has some bedding on his property. There are also a few bedding areas on my property. There is also some good sign, from I believe a 3.5 and a 4.5 year old to be this fall. 2. The 2nd piece is a small pothole with a known buck bedding area, the pot hole is adjacent to my property. I have permission to scout it, but not hunt it. (I may get permission to bow hunt it only, this year, still working on it. I got permission to turkey hunt it and the landowner only gun hunts it.) Here we will try to develop a plan on how to hunt these areas, where we know a buck is bedding on neighboring property, and feeding on our's. I shot a 153" gross buck in 2007 off this piece. The 3rd piece consist of two long narrow strips of timber, one bordering a creek, and the other just more less a funnel. This spot is good for does all year long, but heats up during the rut. I usually get several pictures of mature bucks cruising during the rut. Weather forcast is for 30% chance of Snow/rain mix and a high of 42. Not ideal, but not bad enough to hold a few fellow beast back either.

I've been playing around with my GPS system trying to figure out how to get info back to you. I figured out how to save a screen as a .jpg file (which is a photo) so I can e-mail you a photo of all the stuff I mark on my GPS. You can view it on your comp. or print a copy for the field. This will all be on aerial photos. I'm hoping the weather holds out. Cold is fine but the rain would suck.
