southern Michigan EHD?

Unread postby Groundpounder » Sat Jun 27, 2020 3:10 pm

got out today to check on a few large wild berry patches. All three are on public that I hunt or have hunted very nearby in the past.

opening the car door at each location I was overwhelmed with the unmistakable scent of rotting animal. I have heard of bad EHD years in the south being similar but haven't experienced it.

anyone else finding this in Michigan?

yes it is in or near cwd areas. I haven't searched for bodies of my biggest known bucks yet, just an observation from a quick scout that made me a little concerned.

EHD can be localized to a small area I think. There is an area I normally see 20-30 deer in a bean field. I have seen nothing there this year. I’m gonna go walk the woods back there tomorrow see if anything is dead
