I have found these in different places, a large pine or cedar that appears to be a rub and it has a red substance in different spots that appears to be blood.
Anyone know anything about this?

Yea I’ve seen that on trees before. I’m not even sure it’s a buck rub. There are other big rubs in the area but nothing like that. I didn’t know trees had red sap.

Woodpecker holes and you are seeing the red inner wood? It is a red cedar.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...
