red cedar trees
The spot I hunt has a big long bike/hiking trail throughout much of the sections accessible to hunters. As i was following the trail summer scouting I came across a big patch of red cedars on top of an elevation. There were definitely deer trails but for the summer time it isnt nearly as thick as some of the other parts of the park. I was wondering if this could possibly be a late season bedding/food source for bucks or not. Anyone have any experience hunting around them?

Could be thermal bedding for either extreme hot or extreme cold weather.

I know of a spot on heavily pressured public out of state like this
When late season rolls around those trees can provide excellent thermal bedding.
I killed one out of a pine thicket like this years ago. So bitter cold, deer wasn't moving far to eat. The one I killed had a stomach full of soured green pine needles!!

Re: red cedar trees
If it’s on top of a ridge it’s probably not bedding. Deer do not eat red cedar.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...
