Bedding in pines

Unread postby DougM » Tue May 28, 2019 12:56 am

Hello I'm a Texas public land hunter and this year I will be hunting in the pines. I was wondering how to locate buck bedding areas in pine Forest. This land is flat with very few clear cuts or cutovers. It's has a few creeks and some topography but not much. Any suggestions

Walk the transitions. They bed in the pine thickets here in the south like they do in the marsh and swamp. They love the transition from pine to hardwood or pine to creek bottom. Find the sign then back track it to the beds. Any rise in elevation 5-10-15 ft they tend to bed on the high sides.
