I have a river setup that lays out like this:
Huge public marsh to the south, river running through from east to west (snakes through with multiple oxbows). The river separates the marsh from Ag to the north. The Ag is private, I was thinking of kayaking in the same way I will when I hunt, climbing a tree and shining the field at night.
Thoughts? To intrusive?
Has anyone ever shined from a tree?

Re: Has anyone ever shined from a tree?
Very cool question, I’m interested to learn the answer as well. I could use this application myself. The HP guys always say headlamps don’t scare deer so my first instinct says do it, but as far from season as possible and as far from bedding as possible.
Shining is legal in NH prior to season, this is a next level idea. Love the creativity.

Yes. I did it when I was young. The deer don’t like it any more than they do from a road... lol
It was on family farm we had a double stand that overlooked several ag fields.

Thermals show velvet nicely. Shining brings too much attention, generally negative attention

Re: Has anyone ever shined from a tree?
It’s legal to shine in PA but I really never thought about doing that, guess if it’s legal go for it, personally I don’t don’t think I would risk it unless it were well before the season
