big woods scouting video

Unread postby Rob loper » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:27 pm

Here is how i cyber scout a big woods piece
its a piece of woods i wanted to hunt back in new jersey but never got to hunt or scout it
this is how i cyber scout most big woods or swampy wet places within large tracs of woods or forests nowadays
i separate all easy acessable spots and narrow down very hard or very long treks to get to spots especially wet swampy hard to get to swamps
might not be big for some of you on here out west or out to the north west of me but on the east coast there isnt much big tracs left so couple thousand acres is big here
anyway here is a video on how i break down a spot i wanna check out and hunt . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSikiEXx_uc

Good video. Very relevant for northeast public land hunting. Most of the big woods I hunt seem to have relatively easy access from all directions which makes it challenging at times to find those over looked less pressured areas. Would like to see a topo overlay of that area in your video.

I figured that what you were describing was a relatively flat area anyway with just different transition lines. I don't know how to do a topo overlay with Google Earth either. I mostly use hillmap.com, onxmaps, and occasionally CalTopo for topos and satellite/topo hybrids. Thanks again for the video.
