I also strap a bungee cord on the tree with a hook on it to hang my bow or other gear to keep it dry. Once at hunting height I pop it of the hook with my bow rope or Gear Grappler and pull it up.

Have any of you noticed any advantage of the screw in vs. The bungee? Noise? Dewey what kind of hook are you putting on the bungee?

Screw in is illegal for a lot of public land.

Not that I'm perfectly in line all the time, but if I'm gonna screw something into the tree, I'm gonna do it in a spot I can take it out quick if I see somebody. If its 20' below me, I'm kinda at a loss.

Thats a good point on whether its allowed. I don't know about others but there have been trees Ive really struggled getting the screws into. I like the strap/bungee and hook idea. That really seems like it can be more consistently easy to set up. Thanks for sharing.

Getting the hooks into some trees really can suck. Need to get a real thin diameter and sharpen the tip before you go.

I like the HME strap, illegal to screw in on NY public. Plus the strap has multiple hangers, one for bag and one for bow.

I bet I could DIY something if I can find a good hook. Ive got a couple of those straps that come with the cheap safety harnesses you get when you buy stands.
