Guarantee you are stepping on a moccasin in those fern beds down here.

Never seen any of those here. To cold but plenty of copperheads and some rattlers.

Yes they are. I went to a place I have always stayed out of just for the simple fact it seemed not huntable. It's almost impossible to hunt "Almost".
All these beds were on an easterly ridge making these perfect for them to bed on pretty much any westerly wind.

Yeah nice job! I'm still an elementary beast hunter so I still try to make scouting for beds easy on myself by just focus on Eastern Facing slopes, b/c the wind is almost always West. Even back before I learned about Dan's tactics and what "leeward" meant I spent a lot of time hunting eastern facing slopes. Where I live in PA the west facing slopes seem to be rocky and not as dense in cover. On Eastern slopes I find that they're commonly tangled with green briers and crap making it great for deer bedding. Keep it up bud! Now, don't be like me and just mark that on your gps and forget about it. When I started finding beds I'd find one and get all excited and hurry up and leave to not spook any deer...

Try and look for exit routes and trees to climb!

Great find and thanks for sharing..it looks a lot like the Alleghany mountains I hunt in NY and have struggled finding bed's because they blend in so well.you said eastern slope...on top or just down off the Ridge a bit?

There's a large hay field at the top of the ridge which is flat. The ridge then drops down to a creek where it opens back up into grown up smaller pasture making the ridge probably 100 yds wide. Its been logged in the past probably 15-20 yrs ago. About 1/3 down is a logging road making a shelf. That's where the fern beds were. Some small older rubs on the cluster of trees in between the two. I found some others in areas similar to this but had no rubs.
