I was scouting a new area today in the rain and walked up on a 110 or so 8 point. He jumped up at 30 yards blowing at me several times. Then ran across a bottom and up on another ridge. I assumed I had spooked everything.
Saw a little point sticking out not on the topo about 60 yards from spooking the 8 point.
and walked over to it in thick brush a large shooter buck jumped up 10 yards to my left. He was going to let me walked right by and never move.
It was raining steady and I made no sound. Walking the bare dirt deer trail. Was a very cool experience.
Was scouting today in the rain.

I love sneaking around scouting/hunting in the rain. Have had so many cool close encounters like you mentioned.

2 years ago I was sneaking down a brush fence row in the rain on my way to stand and saw a bunny rabbit 30 yards ahead. As I approached I could see rabbit moving off at 10 yards a big buck and doe jumped up and hauled ! The bunny was the bucks tail he was crawling into thicker cover. Doah!!!

I hope you found those beds, picked out kill tree's and figured out an entrance /exit strategy?
Nice find!

Yeah I did find where to setup. It's very thick pines though. I will not be able to see 30 yards but it's quiet to enter and setup.
I'm going to setup on the thermal tunnel. It has 15 or so old rubs about the size of my arm.
The area has a lot of brush and downed trees was logged probably 10 years ago. Most of Chickasaw has been logged in the last 10 years.
Entry is very easy into this spot.
Shouldnt be too hard setting up 100 yards from them on a pm setup.
Never give up Freedom for imagined safety.
