Bed?

Unread postby Killingtime » Fri Mar 17, 2017 2:16 am

Hi, I am new to the Beast and to this style of hunting anyway I was out scouting on a Central Florida public land WMA last week and I came across what I believe is either a scrape or a bed. There was a rub within 15 feet of it. What is yalls opinion on this pic? If so do they normally clear the ground like this? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a bed to me. The ground is clear because it gets choked out from them laying on it.

Looks like something scratched in the pine straw to me.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

x2. I wouldn't rule out a bed, but I'd want to see some other evidence, for example hair in the dirt spot, location (it's where you'd expect a bed to be), etc.

I think the worn to dirt beds are more common on dry spots in otherwise wet areas.

If you look there is grass growing in with the needles around the bed. Turkeys wouldnt pull out the grass looking and turkey scratching are smaller imo. There's no grass in the bed. Look for hair and let us know. I would say scrape before a turkey scratching

Doesn't look large enough or even the right shape to be a deer bed. Looks like something just scratched up the ground.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was back tracking the last Buck I killed trying to find out where he came from. Didn't think about turkeys.

Looks like another hunter posted up there. If you look on the right it's the same shape/size of boot prints pushing out and on the left is where he sat and pushed the pine straw back.
That's my take on it...
