Is this a rub?

I see trees that look like this here and there. Not a serious as a rub through the bark but noticeable enough to know its not just natural wear on the tree. This tree I could just get my arms around and the marks were up to my eyes, I'm 5' 9", so I starting wondering and decided to ask the experts. Also, looked like bedding all underneath. Thanks!

It's a rub. Not all trees need to be trashed for it to be called a rub. Small bucks can rub big trees and I've seen big bucks rub little saplings. If there is a big size bed matted down there, I'd hunt it.

Another thing u can look for is fish hooks on the side of trees. Not always there but it can help if they are. Or it looks like a check mark.

It sure looks like a rub but it is very low on the tree by the looks of that picture

Didn't think to get any of the ground but the cattails were all matted around it which you can kinda see in the picture, it's a job to get to(had to hop tree trunk to tree trunk through the swamp) it so I'm gonna go back in a few weeks and check a camera I put nearby and I'll check again then, started snowing during my scout and had to leave.
