Daughter's first shed

Unread postby Findian » Mon Feb 20, 2017 2:23 pm

My daughter and I went out scouting. I wanted to check out a beaver pond system for many years. I just kept going right on by it. Well today we went to scout it. We found a big buck track followed it around for 2 miles. He took us through his feeding area then to a couple of doe bedding areas, hitting licking branches by doe bedding, then he ended up bringing us to his core area. I was quite happy she found it. First I was thinking that it was the high ten with that sticker. After she pulled it out of the snow I realized it was the buck I hit in the front leg and never recovered last November. Ended up being a mile and half through the woods from where I wounded him. I'm glad it looks like he has survived.

I usally don't take shed's back with me, but my daughter found it and really wanted to bring it in to her school for show and tell.

Great find for the daughter! No better way to learn than following tracks in the snow and having a teacher explain why he travels thru certain areas.

I've seen threads asking how to train dogs to find antler sheds.

You just brought this to another level
I need to train my 10-year old, any advice... ;)
