Found some decent rubs today

Unread postby Dewey » Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:36 pm

I was doing a little scouting on my way in for my evening sit yesterday and passed near an area where there is a lot of baiting activity. Since I know this guy hunts there quite frequently I decided to see if any mature bucks were avoiding the area and moving around further to the downwind side. About 75 yards downwind I came across some large tracks and a pretty good trail that looked like it was only being use by one large deer and then I found these very large rubs. I plan to do more post season scouting after next weekend and learn more about this deer. Looks like a good one and the rubs looked very fresh.

Dewey,

Think these rubs are tied in with the (2) big bucks you saw last week?

Nice rubs Dewey, now you got some "homework" to do. Good luck figuring it all out.

Dewey, if you need a hand covering all these big buck areas come season I am available  Did notice how you said the buck was working just 75 yards off the bait site and this doesn't surprise me. A lot of times hunters think if a spot gets polluted with scent/human activity, big bucks will vacate the area. More times than not tho, I see exactly what you're talking about, big bucks working just around the hunter. Nice find and good luck scouting!

They do appear fresh! My taxidermist shot a busted up buck 2 weeks ago that was running does all over the place! Good luck scouting him this spring! ;)
