Has anyone ever thought of putting trail cams over beds to see how often they are getting used?? (not during the season of course)
I was daydreaming in the stand today and say I put out 8 cams over 8 different beds, wrote down the wind each day Jan 15-Feb15. Then pulled the cams and compared how often these beds were being used and on what winds..
I just have been hunting so many beds lately with no activity that I wonder if these cams would give me more clarity.

I haven't but there are a few threads on it that I've read before. It's a good and interesting idea.

I've got 2 cams on 2 beds on national forest land right now... Haven't been back in to check them yet.

Re: Trail Cams over Beds??
I've got one 15' from a bed and another right over top of one. I'm gonna start a thread with pics, what winds it was used with, and an aerial. I'll be checking that cam soon... It's been out for 2 months.
I've also got a cam on a licking branch in doe bedding. Will post my findings for that too.

And yes there are threads on this topic. Do a search for "buck bed cam" or something similar. Bump the thread if it's good!

Re: Trail Cams over Beds??
Might be worth leaving one out a whole season and checking at the end of season, could be solid intel for upcoming years

Re: Trail Cams over Beds??
I think I might do this if anyone is interested:
Put out 8-10 trail cams over buck beds in Hill Country from January 15th- Feb 15th.
Monitor the wind each morning and write down the wind direction so I know which beds are being used with what wind direction(s).
This will also tell me what beds are being used most frequently and which ones are not being used very much at all.
Any thoughts to what I might find out?
