I'm sure it's simple but I'm not figuring it out so I'm looking for a little help. I'm trying to cyber scout a potential out of state hunt. It's super flat and I was wondering if there is a way to get contours of like 1'? Thanks guys.

Sorry I can help. But like to know myself.

Yeah I think it's called dem shading and shows high spots. I would try a search on here of earlier posts about it. I remember reading but didn't dig in much with cal topo

Re: Caltopo ?
Not sure if thats doable on caltopo but i can get that type of topo map in my county off of the county GIS website. I think they show 2 ft contours. Not all counties will have that obviously since they are all different but its worth a search.

Re: Caltopo ?
try shooting this user a PM. He uses LIDAR data (kinda like radar, but using lasers) to create them at the elevation resolution you want. Here is his thread about it.

Go where none other dare to go, and there you'll find success.

Re: Caltopo ?
Another option is just searching your state/county for lidar data.
I live in MN and the state has a great interactive site with 2' topo lines available for free.
I haven't figured out how to download them to my gps yet, but working on it.

I had Bobbo1686 convert some data for me. The data was real clear to import in GE and his price was really reasonable.
If you need a closed contour map (1ft contours) send him a pm.
Land that is supposedly flat does have contours.
