Rough Night of Glassing/Shining
Last night seemed to be a perfect evening to go glassing/shining. Moon was overhead at 9:58pm(w central WI). My friend and I started around 7:45 and got done around 11:30. We glassed the fields first and then made a loop and shined them on the way back. We drove over 100 miles total. To our disappointment we only saw one 2.5 yr old and two 1.5 yr old, along with about 20 doe and fawns. This is in an area where we normally shine multiple bucks that are 140+ and has a very healthy deer population. Wondering if the bright moon would have kept them out of the fields? Any insight would be great.

I'd chalk it up to an "off" night...

Dont get to down about it. I have nights like that also. I have learned to be patient when Im glassing fields that I know will produce great signtings. I started spending more time at certain.

What was the temperature? If it was rather warm may not move to well after midnight.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Ive had evenings like that glassing in summer. Then the next morning at sunrise I go for a drive and see multiple big bucks. Maybe they are in the corn maybe another food source in the woods has them feeding. I've seen walk past corn and beans to feed on falling mulberries that's usually in August tho
