So last year it was VERY windy one day and I wasn't having much luck hunting. So I decided from 11am- 1pm I would just scout a new piece of public ground.
I carried my GPS and just walked to a couple places that just screamed "Buck Bed". This is Hill Country.
So, I was walked to the end of a point that looked absolutely perfect and I felt like I was being watched. I stopped and looked ahead and could see a small basket rack buck hunkered down with his eyes glued on me.
I pressed forward and he jumped up from his bed and ran off.
The bed was worn down to black dirt and had a nice compression in it. There was even buck crap in it and since he was just laying in it seconds before I was standing in it, I could smell him very distinctly.
Question to you: What are the odds this bed is used by multiple bucks and would you hunt it ? What would you take away from this experience?
What would you do?

If the bed is wore down like that, it would be worth a hunt to me. Plus, if that buck made it through season, he will be bigger this year.

I would be there first chance when everything is right.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Re: What would you do?
Search out his entry trail, if wind remains consistent, hunt it the very next morning showing off his entry very close to his bed.

If your after a certain caliber buck, any way you can set a cam or two at a safe distance from the bed but inventory what maybe in the area using it? If not, I would give it a hunt or two. Sounds like a start to a piece of a puzzle. Looking forward to hearing how it all comes together.
