Get out glassing

Unread postby Wlog » Thu Jun 09, 2016 1:04 pm

This Sunday is the quarter moon. Beans are coming up and antlers are far enough along to get a decent idea of what they might look like this fall. Moon will be overhead and glassing will be good in the evening all weekend. I've already located a couple bachelor groups on two different public spots close to home. It's time to pick out your target bucks. Get off your but and go find them!

Been doing it all spring :D Started in April/May checking all the deer hitting the grass. Now, deer have been pretty shy, fawns are dropping, browse and green up means ample food in the woods. Have not seen many horns. August is hands down my best month for glassing.

Went glassing tonight...saw does. that ok. The only buck I need to see is during hunting season at about 25 yards but I'm sure they are out there. Try again tomorrow.

One crossed the road in front of me today, pretty young I'd guess, not a big body...

Monday night was very good for early buck movement. I glassed quite a few on their feet feeding well before sunset.

I saw deer tonight in my back yard. My daughter thought that was really cool. She'd never had a deer that close. Got me thinking more about hunting and less about work and stuff like that.

I always have binoculars in the truck and while I'm fishing.

I use June and July to inventory with cameras over minerals.... most of my serious glassing won't happen until Aug/Sep.

I just went for a drive yesterday to check out what the crop rotations were on a couple properties. I now know what fields I will be glassing this summer. Cant wait!!!

Same here. I have a spotlight and binos permanently in my truck console.

Saw about 30 Tuesday night. Only a couple small bucks. It's amazing how different the woods looks from late winter scouting!
