So after attending Dan's scouting seminar back in February I finally got a chance to slosh around the public marsh - and put the lessons to work.
First let me say - Its really uncanny once you've been shown how deer will bed near transitions and how they enter and leave marsh bedding through the cattails . I walked a two mile loop to a finger coming out into the swamp - I was certainly expecting to see buck bedding - exactly where I predicted it should be, walked up - sure enough!!! I knelt down in the bed!! Found the rubs right on the side of the bed, also found a trail leading out to the nearby ag fields.
It's a huge confidence builder to experience this!!
I couldn't be happier, only problem now will be getting back there...pretty nasty stuff.
Oh well - Sometimes the cost of admission is high!!
