So I found this bed put scouting after 6 in of snow and heavy winds. It made it difficult to see entry and exit. My curiosity is, there where no rubs in the bed. I don't know if the tree was to large or something. Also after the snow it made it hard to see hair and droppings. I will def be going back to check but could this just be a spot bare spot the snow did not drift? Usually, beds are pretty obvious once I find them but this one just appears small and sign is lacking any help appreciated...

Re: Bedding/ no rubs
Looks like a spot that a buck would bed at if the wind blew from behind the tree... Was the grass flattened in front of the tree?

Re: Bedding/ no rubs
Yes in front of that large tree all the grass was flattened. It is the largest tree for 100-200yds. If blowing from behind the tree I could access with a cross wind and have a great tree picked out. It is just not as big as some beds. It is very specific spot it looks like he lays. Like I said it just seems more subtle then some beds I have found. The snow may be covering up some sign??

I may be scouting a little early but I have few days off, so I have to scout when I can snow or no snow.

That's a cool looking tree! Looks like something from a movie.

Looks like a black willow. We have them all over the swamps in my area. I find beds by them often

Im sure its a bed... How often and when it gets used are what you need to determine.

Re: Bedding/ no rubs
Looks like a bed to me also, use is the question. The grass at the bed doesn't look that matted down, but it could be hidden by snow. A look in the spring will answer a lot of your questions.

Yeah a lot of sign is hard to see with the snow. What I'm hoping to do is get about 20-30 bedding locations found this winter and during March and April after snow melt check them without wasting time I know exactly where to check and what to look at and what areas

Could there be coons living in that tree? They breed this time of year, around my neck of the woods anyway. Hard to say, I dont see tracks there.
