That was a beautiful buck! Great find!
I'm not an expert, but to me that looks like a good amount of wear on the front three teeth. The back three look worn too on the outside edge. Sharper on the inside edge, yes. No way I would have guessed 2.5 years old. But I'll admit, it's hard to be objective after seeing those antlers.
There are some great reads on here if you search for jawbone aging or cementum aging. QDMA has good information as well.
I sent a pm pic of a jawbone to JoRe a while back and he was very helpful. If you want an objective opinion on age, show the jawbone and get the age opinion before you show antlers. I realize the age just came up out of an evolving conversation, so please don't take that as criticism at all. Far from it!
I believe in what I call "antler bias". Most of us use antlers to influence our age guestimate more than we think we do.
Great find and great job! Hopefully you'll kill a great buck from this area next season! Please let us know if you do!

Great buck! Do you think he died in a bed you could hunt in the future?

I remember the whitetail adrenaline guys chasing a buck with antlers like that, maybe even a little bigger and the deer ended up being 2.5.
Amazing deer.
Amazing deer.

Hard to tell where he actually died. The coyotes had everything eaten or drug away. The terrain was steep and I found him in the bottom of a ravine. Couldn't tell if he died there or coyotes and gravity put him there after he died.
I do know one thing. I'm 100% confident mature bucks feel secure in the general area. It's definitely on my radar now and I'll gather intel there throughout the off season.
