Post your scouting gear list.
Well, the season is coming to a close and everyone's attention is turning to scouting. What items do you carry for your scouting trips? I know many of you pull double duty and scout while hunting other seasons, but I am talking about exclusively scouting gear. Here's what I've kind of decided to put together for the start. (Though I expect it to change after reading some of y'all's gear lists as well)
1. Water
2. Snacks
3. GPS (currently my phone with MotionX GPS)
4. Camera for documenting sign
5. Notepad
6. Hand Pruners
7. Small pruning saw
8. Trail Cam
9. Weather appropriate clothing/footware
Tell me what you carry, see if you can change my list.

Re: Post your scouting gear list.
backpack with extra layering if it cools off or rain suit if rain in forecast.
water bladder
snacks
compass
gps
phone for pics and aerials
I keep it pretty simple. After hauling around stands and stuff all year it feels good to go light.

Water, compass, binos.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I feel ya on that, I am going to be trying to switch to a saddle for just that reason. My gear in last week ended up at 39lbs before counting my safety harness and all my winter clothing. I was probably pushing 50lbs total. Not next year.

For scouting, rubber boots, water, phone, notebook and pen. If I'm going all day then I'll take some jerky, couple protein bars, and an apple as well.

Re: Post your scouting gear list.
Sometimes I bring a backpack with added weight, mainly I carry my handheld gps, and a cane/walking stick. I've gone out in the snow strait from getting off work and walked for miles in my steel toes.

Re: Post your scouting gear list.
Anybody using the Trimble hunt phone app? I've marked a lot beds, rubs, trails, stand sites, etc but never end up using it.
