The only additional thing I have on my list is reflector tacks. I don't use them to mark my trails but just put one on the tree/location I'm looking for. My gps gets me close but in the dark all the trees look the same....

I'm a little surprised of all the guys that bring sticks and stand with them. Merely because if the spot isn't worth hunting or doesn't show what you want, that extra weight is unnecessary. I've found that making a return trip and seeing it on another day or from another angle just enhances the ability of reading the land and sign. That's usually when I bring stand and sticks. I understand bringing stick(s) for trail cameras being hung. Do any of you guys running cameras that go to an area to scout find you placed a cam out in a place but then found another you'd rather of had it? Or do you use it and just go purchase another and place at the new location? I'm thinking of running several this year, but I know if I leave one in every spot I scout, I'll be broke

By the way I've been reading some of the past posts and have gained some valuable knowledge. You guys are awesome!!! Before I wouldn't know where to start looking or how the wind works with the thermals. Found some beds and found some other spots I wanna check out soon. Thanks to Dan and everyone else on here. This is a great place to come and get the real answers not what the big magazines say.

Food, water, paper topo and aerial for marking up. Red, black & blue pens, TP and a little orange ribbon for marking the the bed. I then use the ribbon to mark the head height of the buck when I come back to prep tree. Phone & GPS for backup in case I don't have signal.

Cell phone with the Trimble hunt app. It has topo and arial map, GPS, and I mark stuff like beds, stand sites, trails, etc. You can add notes to a waypoint in the description tab when you store it. I need nothing else.
