Here are a couple pictures of some of the land I hunt. I know in the video you mention deer bedding on small island or dry spots in the marshes, but at this property, there arent really any dry spots in the marshes. In the swamps that are dry (second pic), do they bed out in the middle of that stuff? In the wet stuff like the first and third pics, do they bed in that tall grass on the edges of it? If on the edges, which winds (winds coming from the woods or from the swamps)? What can you tell me about this kind of stuff??
When scouting, should I be spending most of my time walking the edges of these swamps?
Help me out..
Where do they bed in this stuff?

Also, at this property, there are some hills and ridges, but not much..its definitely not hill country..are beds going to be more likely in/near the swamps?

I would expect them to bed in the cattails. But its possible they are bedding the ridges. I think you need to really do some footwork after this season.
If there is no structure in the cattails for bedding check the transition or edge of the cattails where they meet the woods or other type of cover.

Find a rise (especially if waters around it), with good screening cover multiple escape routes on the down wind side of where a predator would come from.

In this type of cover I would be very careful picking my afternoon entrance/exit routes because of the high visibility. If it has heavy hunting pressure they will be right down in the thickest of it. If the pressure is lighter they could bed higher and use their eyes in this kind of terrain.

I agree with dan, I would think they are right out in the cattails. Wear out some boot leather this spring!

Re: Where do they bed in this stuff?
Where there are cattails (like the 4th and 5th pics), it is pretty wet stuff. The stuff that is dry (second pic) is more like CRP grass, and I dont know if they bed in that stuff or not.
Thats why Im so confused with this stuff..I dont know if this is really considered marsh or not. I have seen does bed (just small doe beds with one or two does) on the edges of the water, like in the tall grass closest to the camera in pic #3.

I am rather sure bedding there will vary with water table height and season....
