Scouting for rut stands

Unread postby DaHunter » Tue Dec 29, 2015 7:57 am

This new piece intrigues me, but I am a novice at hill hunting. What would be your top 3 rut stand sites? Road (hunter access to the far right and somewhat to the north (dotted line). Directly NE of the 9 is a thicket and directly SW of the 9 is another thicket. Acorns everywhere. Any help and recommendations you guys can offer, I will appreciate!

Actually having difficulty figuring out uphill and downhill in certain spots on that map. But looks like a good hub just to the right of the "19". Hunt the leeward side depending on wind.

I see several awesome funnels in this map. If you are planning on hunting the seeking phase look for funnels related to points that does will bed on.

I figured does would bed in both of those clear cut thickets around the "19". There's a good hub of trails converging right near the middle of the 9. I didnt see much sign directly east of the 9 in that funnel. I'm wondering if the ridge in the lower right that runs east/west and then curves north would be good with those three points.
