Learning a topo map

I'm teaching myself how to read a topo map. I have circled a few spots that I think are saddles. If anyone could let me know if I'm right or wrong I would appreciate it. And any other pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Those are draws.. Saddles are low spots between high spots.. See your bottom circle..right on the left edge of your circle there are 2 oval circles..the area in between is a saddle.

I'm currently read the book Mapping trophy bucks. The book has a lot of great knowledge in it. I am very interested in learning how to hunt using this technique. I used to be a bait hunter until I found this forum in mid October this year. I wish I would have found it awhile ago.

The Red Xs are saddles. Where I marked 1 and 2 would be examples of higher ground. The X is the lower area in beween. The diagram on the bottom shows how a saddle would look from side view. Im not a topo master. There are guys on here that break em down far better then me, but hope I helped.

Ok. That makes sense. I appreciate you taking time to show me that. Thank you.

This is a shameless plug for dad's Hill country dvd. Get it for Christmas and it will make the offseason VERY exciting.
