You catch persimmons just right and you will have a candy store. What about mesquite? Like locust they will feed heavily upon the pods

No mesquite. With the exception of a few private properties that bought cattle from further west (without letting all the seed pass from their system), we are JUST east of the mesquite regions.

Maples? Lol been a while but in e tex there were some youth maple stands that I hunted and when they dropped their leaves the bucks, all deer are then a lot. Plums are also good but I believe the leaves are mostly gone?
