scouting cedar swamp now. tips?

Unread postby johndeere506 » Sun Sep 06, 2015 3:27 am

Scouting a couples swamps deep dark spots that I won't hunt for 2 to 3 months. What do I need to know? I'll be wearing hip boots covered in deet for skeeter s and ticks. Any poison plants in MI cedars, I'm guessing no? Carrying a knife, compass and phone. Anything I should know? I've done it before but not during summer that's all.

make sure you take fluids, it's real easy to overheat in the swamps right now. Check a variety of "edges" for buck travel and bedding. Cedars / water, cedars / tag alder, cedars / high ground points and islands, etc. I'm busy until tonight but I will try to get more to you then. One of our other swampers may reply too... If you missed my podcast that would also help.

Sounds good, let us know what you find. Don't be surprised if you jump a good one right on the outer edge of the swamp itself.

How do I find this pod cast? I'm also hunting swamps (cypress) and could use some help!
