I have watched nearly every youtube clip you have posted and i bought the Hill Country Bucks DVD I have watched once so far, i will watch it a few more times to learn more but i noticed your style of hunting is soley based off hunting buck beds. You have the resume to show that it works but i have watched other established public land hunter DVDs and they focus on hunting primary scrape areas.
So my questions are:
Do you also focus on these areas or strictly bedding?
What other tactics do you hunt other than buck beds?
Whats your tactics for hunting does?
Question For the Dan??

Re: Question For the Dan??
In my opinion all solid tactics are based on bedding... Do I hunt beds all the time? No... But if I am hunting a scrape line, its in between doe bedding, or adjacent to it, or near buck bedding... I think guys who shoot big bucks over "deer sign" and get big bucks do so by sheer luck. There is nothing a big buck does that is "random". They move very little in daylight, and when they extend that little bit its cause its rut, and they are seeking does by looking where they bed... I think to be a solid big buck killer you need to understand where bucks and does are bedding and consider it when thinking about your tactics.
That does not mean you need to hunt like I do... But it means you not going to kill a buck in the best looking funnel in the world if it don't connect bedding areas, and your not going to kill a monster buck on a food plot thats a mile from the nearest buck bed...

MHILL, I would strongly suggest my marsh bucks DVD... It goes into a little more detail about my strategies. We have it available in the store on this site.

I really don't target does very often. Usually I shoot them while buck hunting if I need one. In the occasions I have targeted does it has been at a food source that won't booger my buck hunting, or like in the case of the albino doe, hunt near its bedding area.
