There's one way to find out.

I'm new to this but the thing that would make me question some spots like that is that they need an escape route right? So if a spot is a peninsula where the only option is to swim is it likely to be a bedding spot? I'm guessing not, but like I said, I'm new so I'll be paying attention to other responses.

Yeah I know. But then I remember an old Wensel video saying how they'll take to water about like us crossing a non busy street.

That's a waterfowl closed area. No one can hunt it while the waterfowl season is open, which I'm pretty sure is all or most of the deer season. Just letting you know so you don't invest time into it.

Stash, I emailed the dnr about this exact spot last october.

Hi i had a quick question about this state property. I see that there is an area on the property that is closed for hunting. I guess my question is, does that apply to bowhunting for deer too? This may be a dumb question but I noticed that the property is oriented towards waterfowlers and was wondering if it only applied to them.

Hi Michael,
The area that is closed is closed to all hunting, not just waterfowl hunting, so sorry – bowhunting in the refuge is not allowed.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks,
Sara

http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/OutdoorRecreation/

Find the property on this link. Look under the maps tab. These maps will show you closed areas, bowhunting only, parking lots, etc.

The public access lands is also very helpful also, if you seen that yet.
