Question #1 - In my area, there are lots of pot holes with open water. I've found that points jutting out into big slews or lakes will have doe bedding, but relatively nothing for buck bedding. I'm thinking a mature buck doesn't want to have to swim if pressured? Is this consistent with what others are finding??
Question #2 - I'm going to have limited time to spring scout this year, as the wife and I have our first baby due on March 3rd. That said, what is the best approach for me this year? Do I only scout the obvious, classic bedding locations I find cyber scouting and go to many different areas? Or should I stick to a few spots and be very thorough?

Re: Beds near open water
Deer (bucks) seem to have no issue with swimming in some of the areas I hunt!

I find the same thing, but I don't think it's the swimming that is the problem, it's the open. If the water has brush/cattails than the points seem to hold bigger bucks, regardless if they have to swim to escape. Actually I have found that they prefer to swim and get that water barrier between you and them ASAP.
