Getting an Image on CalTopo?

Unread postby TN Whitetail Freak » Sat Oct 04, 2014 2:35 am

I want to in essence take a screenshot of a piece of land I want to scout. My plans was to post it on here to get some advice on how to approach the piece of property, but I cannot figure out how to get an image of the property off caltopo website in order to share on here

advice anyone?

If you have Windows 7 use the "snip it" tool. Very easy. Other Windows OS's possibly have it also.

You will than probably need to put it up on Photobucket or another website like that and load the link here. I cannot seem to find the "attach thumbnail" icon anymore that allows you to attach a file from your PC here.

Assuming you are doing this on a computer, not a phone

Once you have the map centered the way you want it in caltopo, press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard.

Open up "Paint" program on your computer, Press "Paste" or just press CTRL+V on your keyboard.

Crop the image as you would like and black out any gps coordinates.

Save the image

Upload the image to photobucket

Past the image link from photobucket into your post on this website

Done
