Hoping to pick this property up in the next few weeks, season opens oct 4. So I won't have much time to scout before season. The Yellow dots are locations that I have seen groups of bucks this summer while helping on the farm. All help is needed.
Thanks,
Boswell

Re: Possible New Property
Looks like a good place to start would be the upper third of those hills on the leeward side of those points on North to South winds for bedding (red). It would make sense for those locations where you saw the bucks. Looks like plenty of opportunity for beds hunts and rut hunts. Setting up on those pinch points (draws) between the points on that upper third trail on the leeward side would be good stuff. Also You have a really nice saddle ( yellow betwween those two peaks. Somebody with more hill country experience can elaborate but I'm putting my best foot forward. I may be off on the elevation line but I would say somewhere in that general area. Hard telling not getting boots on the ground. Good thing is is that its favors your predominant fall winter wind direction on your property . This piece in VA?

Bigburner did a pretty good job on this map, I agree with his findings. Only thing I would differ on is the bedding point he marked furthest East I would mark the bedding on that point a little farther down.

Thanks guys! I'm not good about finding beds, the draw is the first thing that I saw on the topo. Hopefully I can get in there in a week or so and get some boots on the ground time to see what it looks like. Yea, this piece is in Va. Hopefully it will produce this year.
Thanks,

Re: Possible New Property
If you haven't yet...WATCH the DVD's (marsh and hill country bucks) & after watching them it REALLY helps narrow down the cyber scouting aspect. If you haven't purchased/watched them yet, its totally worth it!
Having this website as a resource to ask the PROS where the most likely bedding areas are is a wonderful thing, but once you see the dvd's & are explained WHY those areas are key (why 1/3 from the top on the downwind slope etc...thermal patterns...everything really comes together and it no longer is a guessing game)
They will help you get into the bucks mind...his way of thinking/survival tactics.
