Dan and other fellow beasts - Any recommendations on a stand location, and entry route? The red circle is a buck bed on a little bump looking down into the pines and swampy area. The whiite trail is human/hunter access trail. W or SW wind only?
Aerial
Topo of the same area- Blue circles were rubs/scrapes. There are more rubs/scrapes near the "0" in "850".

Re: Stand Location
Acorns back towards the rubs (west of bed) and corn/acorns north as well.

Re: Stand Location
Looks to me like its set up for a South or west wind... I would expect buck travel to either head west around the beaver pond where it looks like a nice tight spot for a stand and you could have wind blow over pond, or follow the north side of the pines... Of coarse rubs and trails may change my mind if I walked the area.

Re: Stand Location
I like the pines coming under the cover of the pines is usually a stealthy way. Windy day you could get close and arrow him from the ground? South wind, West wind, North West wind would also work.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Stand Location
Thanks for the advice, guys. I only scouted this spot once in the Spring and I didnt get a good look at exit trails. I know there's a trail between the north side of the pines and beaver pond and as Stanley said, access would be fairly quiet for me. The west exit was loaded with rubs (facing the bed - 100 to 150 yds away) so that looked great as well. Ill give both spots a try this fall depending on conditions/cover.
