Marsh bucks

I've seen the aerial images in cattails of possibly buck beds. Near trees and "dry" ground. Then there's the trails that lead away from these spots. My question is how far will deer trail trough cattails?
I have a spot I found that is on the west side of a lake cattails between the hardwoods and lake. I seen a "trail" or it looks like it (even went trough the historical images) that leads to the north towards more hardwoods, but it like 200-300 yards away trough the cattails.
I can guess as long as they can get through it they will, but could this just be a escape route? Could it be a regular route depending on the wind and food? I know I need to get in there now that I found it. I don't really want to this close to the season though.

This is the best I can do....for now. I'll get better as I learn how to. Just trying to get a idea of reading images....and find locations in the process. I hope I'm not to far off base with this!!

Green circles are the possible bedding areas and just south of this is a wooded island surrounded by cattails and water. I know they could bed there too.

I think you are on the right track. Sometimes the little rises/brush piles that are dry bedding don't always show up well on an aerial. 200 or 300 yards into the cattails is nothing to a deer if that is where the secure bedding is. They will travel much farther if needed.

I can't tell what the dark spots are you circled in blue... If its brush within cattails, I wouldn't guess there are beds there, I would say for sure there are beds there.
I have seen bucks travel over a mile thru solid cattails just to bed... A few hundred yards is nothing.

Slowpoke69 - there are beds and rubs in the green circle closer to the lake. I know from firsthand experience. :)

Thanks for the info. I'm going try to hunt the edges there this season, and really scout it hard after the season.

DaHunter-it almost sounds like you're in my neck of the woods. Unless you have a similar spot to this.

Yeah, I hunt a bunch of public around there. Havent hunted that spot specifically but ive scouted it and found good sign. Just not sure how the bike trails and campers on the opposite side affect the deer movement. It was loaded with other hunters in early Nov last fall. You might want to check out the wooded point that butts up to the lake/drainage on the northwest tip of the lake. Looks like a great funnel spot. Good luck!

I hunted near the lake last year. Seen a couple young does and a tall spike. Its weird sitting in a tree and having bikers go by, but the day I seen the spike I see bikers. So I'm not sure how they are. I might be able to get away with my scent a little more. Not saying g I'm gonna stop playing the wind or trying to be scent free. Maybe we'll cross paths this season.
