Could use some help with this...

Unread postby Gonehuntin » Sat Jun 07, 2014 7:56 am

this spot is private land that i fortunately get to hunt, i have trail cam pics of nice bucks but all at night. wondering where u guys think they will bed. the picture shows rubs (deer symbols) and scrapes (yellow buck heads) the orange dots are where i can park to access the grounds, any help would be great because i have hunted this land for 5+ years now and only managed to take 1 1/2- 2 1/2 year olds. the big guys are deff there though. thanks

I marked the probable bedding areas in yellow dots... Look at the farthest north one... I put a small red dot in the middle of the yellow dot to be sure your looking at the right one. Thats a great spot for a west wind, and will also work for South or north... Notice that behind that point along the same elevation as the bed your finding the majority of rubs. Most likely from the bucks bedding on that point.

Also notice that a buck bedded on that point can monitor you if your parking in the spot you marked just north of there, he can also monitor the trail south of the point and can smell both from thermals going to his bed. Your probably not shooting these bucks cause they know when your on the property.

Its going to be very wind specific on where exactly you set up... Thermal rise will bust you from below unless you have a perfect wind or stay back far enough. I think the best bet is to get above him in between the rubs and the bed with a just off wind blowing over the valley to one side... You need to look at that point soon, figure out about where he is bedding and look at the trails coming out from the bed to see how close you can get and exactly what wind(s) and trees.
