Does scouting season ever really expire??
I've been out a couple times checking out the hills and leeward points...just like Dan says!! Beds right where they should be!! My question is does the time of the year your out scouting ever really get to late - where a guy shouldn't really be invading the bedding areas?? I have been planning on doing as much scouting as I possibly can - all through the summer months over several different ridge lines in some public near my home. Any thoughts on this - I realize the closer it gets to the opening of Bow season - I won't want to be tromping through the bedding areas - but what about all summer??

I generally stay out all summer to let things cool down but if you aren't worried about buring the areas up or maybe don't plan on hunting them until later in the year or next season by all means scout all summer. Another good reason to stay out of the woods is the heat and the bugs/ticks. Not to mention that once green up its hard to get a good idea of the layout so you will have a few things working against you.

Scouting season never ends but as it gets closer to the season I use less intrusive tactics. In the summer I ride my mountain bike offroad and glass from long distances and have also been using an observation stands in the summer to keep tabs on deer up till the opener. Shining where legal can tell you a lot about the deer in your area but you need to be careful you don't over use it.

You can scout right through summer... I used to all the time when I had the time

x2 it gets tougher after green up, and bothers the bucks closer to season, but yes, it can be done.
Andrae actually checks bedding areas in season a lot.

I'm going to have to keep scouting and just make the most of it because I need spots...

For as little as it would be disturbing deer Id say do it if its minimal. People walk thru the woods all the time. Even the most remote areas get traffic-with or without permission.

I will get down and dirty right through late summer. But I am diving into spots I am not planning on hunting until Dec-Feb so it still gets to 'cool off' for several months while hunters are putting pressure in the rest of the woods.

I dont have the luxury of time so I scout whenever my family life and work committments allow. Waist deep snow and sub zero temps are my biggest roadblocks after time.

Re: Does scouting season ever really expire??
Scouting never expires for me. I like to get in to a new area and scout a buck bed hard and fast during the early and midsummer timeframe. In one day I find the buck bed, determine buck entrances and exits, pick my tree(s) along with my own entrance and exit, and get out and stay out. Perimeter funnel areas near buck bedding show me tracks to verify that the buck has returned and is using the bedding again. If you make multiple trips in to the bedding area, the consequences to your hunting can be severe.

Nope, just starts over an gets better with the passing of each weekend.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.
