Ticks

Unread postby mheichelbech » Thu Apr 17, 2014 12:28 am

Does anyone have good ideas for keeping ticks away while scouting? 2 I have heard of are Permethrin sprayed on clothes, and American Crew hair gel (yep!)....

Does anyone use the Permethrin on their hunting clothes while in stand?

I use permetherin during turkey season, that stuff works awesome. I turkey hunt near ground zero for Lyme disease and rarely see a tick on me. Spray your clothes, let them dry and you are good to go.

I hate ticks and personally wish the DNR would spend more time getting rid of them than worrying about CWD.

Same here. Treated my bug suit last year and let it dry for 3 days. I have not had to treat it yet but will with summer coming.

Good stuff. 1 bottle of concentrate will go a long way than most spray on cans.

Thanks guys. I just went to the local farm store and picked up a small 10% solution bottle of Permethrin. If you look at the spray stuff branded for individual use it is 0.5% solution. So 1oz. of the stuff I got will make 20 oz of spray for my turkey clothes/boots etc. All this for $6.00. Should last a couple years.
