Marsh grass or catails

Unread postby Jeff G » Fri Mar 28, 2014 8:25 am

Is there a mature buck preference in "ideal" habitat between cattails or marsh grass? The other day I was scouting and was on the transition between a soft woods edge and marsh grass. There was a lot of red brush, lots of brows sign and some bedding on the edge. Do mature bucks prefer the thicker cattails or marsh grass/red brush for safety? Whats been your experiences?

I think cattails. I've found more big buck sign in cattails than marsh grass.

Harder to shoot at deer with a gun in cattails than marsh grass/red brush
