Non Hunting Property Scouting/Shed Hunting
Just go permission on close to 600 acres (150 wooded/scrub brush), of no hunting/no access private land. It is located across the road from and 80 acre farm I can hunt. I was planning on shed hunting the property just to get outside. Do you think there is any value in scouting the property knowing I cannot hunt it?

Yes. It might help you hunt the land you have permission to hunt and you took the first step to acquiring permission on this new piece.

I agree a foot in the door.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I wish, it's a commercial property, unless they decide to sell some of the land in the future.

I would definitely scout it and then maybe muddy the best buck bedding during season.

Good call Palmetto, I didn't think of that. I can't hunt it but I never thought of bumping them out of there. God I love this site. The property I hunt is the best bedding around, if I don't over pressure it, it's swarming with deer by the end of October. The only other "refuge" is this huge chunk of private land across the road. I'm so glad I went ahead and asked.

hanging cameras on their property isn't considered hunting it either!

Re: Non Hunting Property Scouting/Shed Hunting
Did a quick 2 hr shed hunt/scout on the property this weekend. Definitely worth it, I would probably give my left umm, thing, to hunt the property. I was pretty surprised, it didn't look like anyone was sneaking on the property to hunt, which I half expected. Anyways, I found what I think is a match set of sheds from what should be a really good deer this year. They were about a 1/2 mile apart. One of the sides was about 50 yards across the road from the property I can hunt, in a north south running finger of woods along a creek that flows across the road(to where I can hunt). We saw 50+ deer, so I'm sure there are more sheds out there but we go cut short by the snow. The sheds I found are a main frame 8 pointer with split brows and a 9th point should form this year. They both have a broken G3 but the G2's are 10-11''. I'll add photos shortly.
