Bachlor group buck bedding?

Unread postby trapper57 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 11:20 am

Do bucks bed in differnt areas in the summer when bachelor grouping takes place?
Do they go to the more isolated spots after velvet shed?
Or do the more mature bucks not group up?

I believe mature bucks bed off to themselves (in thick cover) and I think mature does come to them when its time to breed.

Bucks are like people with many different personalities. I think depending on the buck some will bed together in bachelor groups and others are loners and keep to themselves in more secluded areas. Later after shedding when testosterone starts increasing they tend to not tolerate each other and seek beds away that are by themselves. On the other hand I have seen mature bucks bedded together more than once in hard horn but this usually seems to happen well after the rut and during the late season.
