Dan and other guru's--question with photos

Unread postby christian1 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 12:58 am

Looking for input. If you were to have scouted this and see what I saw (see-saw pictures  below) you would think???? The red dot in the pic is where I found all this sign. The black dots is where I expected to find beds. The field above the red dot is soybeans. The first image is the G4 sat image with elevation lines. I did kick out one large deer from this area. I have some thoughts, but really want to hear what you guys have to say before I post them.

The rubs tell me a buck has been there... The bed dion't look real impressive. I would try to find bedding in the area, especially if the rub lines tend to go into and oput of the swamp rarther than paralell.

May be a rut staging bed. Difficult to tell without more information.

I was thinking some of the same. Beds seem pretty lightly used and pretty close to road/human access. There are a lot of trails that run in and out of the swamp instead of parallel with that point. I guess I am somewhat confused though. I followed trails into the swamp and never really found any beds in the snow. Plus it is extremely thick. I was looking for some open/high area with thick at his back like that one point where I have a black dot. It juts out into the marsh away from the strip of trees that runs parallel to the field.

I hope I can clear up a lot of these questions at the workshop. I am out there pounding the pavement, but when I find beds or sign I still don't know if I am on the right track.

I think the workshop will certainly help.

Did you check out the far NE corner? Looks like potential bedding.
